MMTS Trains

MMTS trains are the local trains which were introduced for Hyderabad and Secunderabad commuters to travel around the twin cities of Telangana State. These services are started in 2003 and recently completed 15 years of journey. MMTS means Multi modal transport system. The MMTS transport system is a joint venture of south central railway (SCR) and Telangana state government. Two thirds of the expenditure from state and one third from SCR. The coaches are manufactured at Integral Coach Factory, near perambur in Tamil Nadu. Initially the services started from Lingampally to Hyderabad and vice versa, and later from Lingampally to Secunderabad and vice versa, later extended to Falaknuma. In 2012 on women’s day women driver alone drove the train from Lingampally to Falaknuma. On daily basis nearly 121 trips will run through all the routes like Lingampally to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Lingampally, Lingampally to Falaknuma, Falaknuma to Lingampally and Lingampally to Secunderabad and vice versa. Recently in 2019 as per MMTS phase 2, two trains from Lingampally has extended to Ramachandrapuram, through Tellapur, and BHEL township. The two trains will start from Ramachandrapuram (RC Puram) in the morning time which one will travel towards Falaknuma and one towards Hyderabad.

MMTS New Train

MMTS Trains routes are mainly from Lingampally to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Lingampally, Lingampally to Falaknuma, Falaknuma to Lingampally. Where as some trains will run from Secunderabad to Lingampally and Secunderabad to Falaknuma to accommodate the long distance travellers to reach Secunderabad Station and from Secunderabad to Lingampally or Falaknuma in the morning timings. Some trains will run from Falaknuma to Secunderabad and this will be the last train. Recently two trains extended from Lingampally to Ramachandrapuram which covers the Tellapur, BHEL township stations.

MMTS Stations:

In Hyderabad to Lingampally Route we are having Lakdikapul, khairatabad, Necklace Road, Begumpet, Naturecure Hospital, Fatehnagar, Bharat Nagar, Borabanda, Hitech City, Hafeezpet, Chanda Nagar, Lingampally.

In Lingampally to Falanuma route we are having Chanda nagar, Hafeezpet, Hitec City, Borabanda, Bharat Nagar, Fathe Nagar, Nature Cure Hospital, Begumpet, Sanjeevaiah Park, James Street, Secunderabad, Arts College, Jamai Osmania, Vidya Nagar, Kacheguda, Malakpet, Dabirpura, Yakutpura and Huppuguda mmts stations.

Initially the MMTS trains started with 6 coaches only, later based on the travellers it was increased to 9 and now it becomes 12 coaches in each train. In which 4 coaches will be reserved for women passengers and first class ticket holders. We will have some vendor coaches also for small trade businessmen to travel with their luggage.

The daily patronage is about 1.7 lakhs per day, once the mmts phase 2 get completes it will be increased to 3 lakhs per day. Some MMTS stations are equipped with facilities like water ATM, ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machine), plastic bottle shredder machines, Divyang Toilets, bike and car parking facilities. At Begumpet station baby feeding kiosk also provided for feeding their little ones.

MMTS Special trains on occasions

Some times based on demand South Central Railway (SCR) will run special additional trips like on Ganesh Immersion or any bandhs.etc.
